- Legal obligation: to comply with tax, accounting, consumer-protection and other legal requirements.
- Legitimate interests: to operate and improve our business, protect our website, prevent fraud and provide customer support.
- Consent: where you have agreed to receive marketing or allowed the use of optional cookies and similar technologies.
Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect processing that occurred before consent was withdrawn.

Quotations, orders and payment information
Because our products require delivery verification, we may use the information you provide to confirm your delivery address, determine shipping availability, calculate shipping costs and prepare an individual quotation.
Payments may be processed through Alibaba Trade Assurance, PayPal, authorised card-processing services or another payment provider identified in your quotation.
Payment providers process payment credentials under their own privacy policies. We generally receive transaction details such as payment status, payment method, transaction reference and limited billing information. We do not ask you to send full credit-card details through WhatsApp or email.
07
WhatsApp, email and marketing communications
If you contact us through WhatsApp or email, we use your contact details and the content of your message to respond, prepare quotations, manage orders and provide customer support.
WhatsApp is operated by Meta and is subject to Meta’s own terms and privacy practices. Information sent through WhatsApp may be processed in countries other than your country of residence.
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we may send you product news, offers and brand updates. You can unsubscribe at any time by using the unsubscribe link in the message or contacting us at support@acorn-marine.com.
Unsubscribing from marketing does not prevent us from sending essential transactional or service messages relating to an enquiry, quotation, order, delivery, warranty claim or legal notice.
09
How Shopify processes information
Our online store is hosted by Shopify. Shopify processes personal information to provide website hosting, storefront, security, analytics, customer-management and other ecommerce services.
Depending on the Shopify services enabled for our store, Shopify may use information to improve its services, provide insights, prevent fraud or support advertising features, subject to applicable law and your privacy choices.
You can learn more about Shopify’s processing practices and privacy rights in the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy .
11
Sale, sharing and targeted advertising
We do not sell personal information for money. However, certain uses of analytics, advertising cookies, pixels or Shopify advertising services may be legally defined as “selling”, “sharing” or processing for “targeted advertising” under some privacy laws.
Where required, eligible visitors can opt out through the Privacy Choices or data-sharing opt-out link provided on our website. We also recognise browser-based privacy signals, such as Global Privacy Control, where required and supported by our configured privacy tools.
12
International data transfers
Acorn Marine operates from China and serves customers internationally. Shopify, payment providers, messaging platforms, logistics providers and other service partners may process information in different countries.
These countries may have privacy laws that differ from those in your country of residence. Where required, we and our service providers use recognised safeguards for international transfers, such as contractual protections or other legally approved transfer mechanisms.
13
How long we retain information
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including:
- Responding to enquiries and maintaining customer-service records.
- Completing orders, delivery, warranty and after-sales support.
- Meeting tax, accounting, customs and legal recordkeeping obligations.
- Preventing fraud and resolving disputes.
- Maintaining marketing records until you unsubscribe or withdraw consent.
Retention periods vary depending on the type of information, applicable laws, the nature of our relationship and whether the information is needed to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. Information that is no longer required will be deleted, anonymised or securely isolated.
14
How we protect personal information
We use reasonable administrative, technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect personal information from unauthorised access, loss, alteration, disclosure or misuse.
These safeguards may include access restrictions, secure service providers, encrypted connections, account-security controls and internal procedures for handling customer information.
No method of transmission or electronic storage is completely secure. Therefore, we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please do not send passwords or complete payment-card details through ordinary email or WhatsApp messages.
